SIGN LEGIBILITY. WHAT IS THE MINIMUM FONT SIZE RECOMMENDED FOR READING FROM VARIOUS DISTANCES?
We recommend a letter height minimum of 1 inch per foot of viewing distance.
So if your sign is seen at a distance of 30 feet, then your type size should be a minimum of 3 inches tall.
It's also good practice to use letters that have a high contrast to the background color of your sign. So a light colored background would use a dark colored font.
