Valentine's Candy Box

Our customer asked us to create a large candy box that would fit basketball shoes inside. This box is 20 inches wide. It’s big!

HOW DID WE BUILD IT?

The material used to build the
We needed a heart shape for the top lid and bottom of the box, as well as a additional heart shapes that were a half inch smaller to fit inside. The smaller hearts would act as a template for vertical sides. The side pieces give the box its thickness. The sides were cut into strips with score lines at each angle of the heart, instead of single pieces, and wrapped around the smaller heart shapes.

We then cut out the heart shapes and the side strips using our Esko Kongsberg cutter. The strips where cut out and each angle of the sides was scored to create the necessary side pieces that would wrap around the heart shape.

After that, we printed Pantone 201C Red onto Soft Touch paper using our EFI Vutek 8-color printer that color matched the Pantone red. A nice even color was printed to the paper.

Next, all of the pieces were wrapped by hand using the Soft Touch paper around each heart piece, and each piece was glued and assembled into the heart shape.

A pad that sits on top of the shoes was created but not shown.
